Coleen Rooney is keen to reach a late agreement to halt her imminent court battle with Rebekah Vardy, it has been claimed.

Rebekah - wife of Leicester City striker Jamie - has launched a libel lawsuit against Coleen after their epic fall out a year ago.

It led to Coleen being dubbed 'Wagatha Christie' after she set up her own private investigation to catch whoever she thought had been passing on information from her private Instagram page to the press.

She posted a series of fake stories, blocked all her followers apart from Rebekah's account and then sprung a 'gotcha' post online when the hoax posts made their way into the papers.

Rebekah vehemently denied she was behind the leaks, insisting a number of people had access to her Instagram page.

She has now pressed ahead with a legal challenge - but Coleen reportedly wants an 11th hour deal, according to The Sun.

A source told the publication: “Things have gone much further than many had expected.

"Her legal team is desperately trying to find a way this can be settled privately.

“Coleen is a rather shy and private person, so the idea of having personal matters relating to her and Wayne raked over in court is something that fills her with dread.”

The Sun say Coleen is "being urged by those close to her to bow out of the dispute as quickly as possible".

Rebekah - who is set to appear on the 2021 series of Dancing On Ice - lifted the lid on trying to avoid the Wagatha Christie drama with Coleen during an appearance on GMB on Tuesday.

She said: "Look, we tried to sort things out amicably and it just didn't work.

"I understand people think it's ridiculous, but what was I meant to do? I need to clear my name.

"I want to clear my name and I will do whatever that takes and I hope that it's going to be resolved soon."

She added: "To be fair, in comparison to what some of the people have gone through with Covid and things, it's incomparable."
