Coleen Rooney 'wants access to Rebekah Vardy’s texts and emails' in High Court battle
Coleen Rooney is preparing to head to the High Court to take on fellow WAG Rebekah Vardy who has sued her for libel over the pair’s Wagatha Christie fall out
Coleen Rooney’s lawyers reportedly want to be given access to Rebekah Vardy’s texts. emails and phone records as part of their libel battle.
Wayne Rooney’s wife is preparing to head to the High Court to take on fellow Wag Rebekah, who has sued her for libel.
Rebekah - who denied any involvement in the leak - has taken legal action against her nemesis in a bid to clear her name.
Now The Sun On Sunday reports Coleen and her team want to be given access to Rebekah’s electronics for “forensic analysis”.
A source told the publication: “Coleen met with her lawyers and they’ve told her they need to continue putting together more evidence.
“She needs to prove that Becky was directly responsible for the leaks or, at the very least, that the information came from her social media account. Coleen is adamant she is right, but in a legal setting the evidence she has may not be enough to cross the threshold.”
To be granted access to such information, Coleen’s team will need to apply for a court order.
Both sides are preparing for a High Court Hearing later this year before the libel trial gets underway.
It’s focused on the 2019 fall out between the pair, when Coleen sensationally accused Rebekah of being behind stories that were leaked from her private Instagram account.
Coleen set up her own sting operation to catch whoever had been passing on information from her private Instagram page to the press last year.
She posted a series of fake stories, blocked all her followers apart from Rebekah's account and then sprung a gotcha post online when the hoax posts made their way into the papers.
Rebekah vehemently denied she was behind the leaks, insisting a number of people had access to her Instagram page.
She subsequently threatened to sue for libel – while Coleen threatened she would countersue for breach of privacy.
After Coleen's post last October, Rebekah released a statement to strenuously deny she was behind the leak.
Rebekah wrote: "I wish you had called me if you thought this.
"I never speak to anyone about you as various journalists who have asked me to over the years can vouch for.
"I'm not being funny but I don't need the money, what would I gain from selling stories on you?...
"I liked you a lot Coleen & I'm so upset that you have chosen to do this."
