Aspryr has recently launched Sid Meier’s Civilization 6 on Android. The game was previously launched on the Apple App Store in 2018, plus on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo switch.
Civilization 6 on Android is free to start. The game is free to download at first, and players can enjoy 60 turns for free. This is similar to the App Store version launched two years ago. The free version is intended to introduce players into the game and learn the basics before deciding to purchase the full experience.
After the free demo ends, the game is around $19.99 for the base game. Additional content is also available for more. They include the Rise and Fall and Gathering Store expansions, plus the Civilization and Scenario packs.
If players want the full game experience, they’ll have to pay a large amount for all of the content. The base game doesn’t require the extra content to enjoy. Everything previously available on the App Store is also available on the Android version.
Civilization 6 is a turn-based strategy game. Players start out on a small settlement and expand into a larger world power throughout many years. Players can decide how to win by succeeded in various victory conditions such as military domination or technological successes. The game offers both single-player and multiplayer gameplay.
The mobile version of the game gave veteran players of the franchise new ways to play. For newcomers, there are various tutorials in place to help guide them to a successful civilization. New players will have an easier time getting started and enjoying the free content before deciding to purchase the full game.
Elizabeth Howard, vice president of publishing at Aspyr stated:
For those who love strategy games, Sid Meier’s Civilization 6 is a die-hard, must-play classic that until now, wasn’t an option for Android users. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that this epic world is now available for Android gamers to enjoy for the first time ever.
Most importantly, Aspyr listed the compatible devices on their website. They range from the iPhone 7 to the iPad tablet. The company hasn’t released the list of Android devices yet. The Play Store warns upfront that the size of the game is 40M, which is much more than other mobile titles.
The review section of the Play Store game contains helpful information about what devices are capable of running the game. Others have also commented on the ease of the touch-screen, but also some glitches they’ve encountered. Most of the criticisms are about the load time.
Civilization 6 is available now on iOS and Android.
