Chris Tarrant brands Kerry Katona a ‘monster’ as he recalls explosive meeting

Chris Tarrant has recalled meeting Kerry Katona - claiming the two didn't hit it off.

The 73-year-old, who used to host Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, met the Atomic Kitten singer at an event in Marbella, Spain.

Kerry herself recalled the meeting earlier this year, saying Chris called her "gobby, loud, rude and brassy" when she went up to introduce herself.

Now Chris has told the Mirror: "I do remember [meeting]... She was upsetting everybody.

"I think you can imagine. Oh gosh, a monster. She was just all over the place, we were trying to do charity stuff and she kept butting in and eventually I probably did say, 'Why don’t you go away?'"

Mirror Online has contacted Kerry's rep for comment.

Kerry said she broke down in tears after her run-in with the Millionaire host.

She wrote in her new! magazine column: "I went up to him to say hello and he told me - to my face - he didn't like me, that I was 'gobby, loud, rude and brassy.' What? I was so disappointed."

She continued: "I went to the toilet and bawled my eyes out. A couple of years ago, he did an interview where he said he wouldn't do a reality show as he didn't 'want to be stuck on an island with Kerry Katona'.

"I have no idea what I did to him but he must have had it in his head that I'm a vile person. It's a shame as I loved watching him on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?

"I grew up idolising him and my heart sinks even now thinking about it."

But despite the rough encounter, nothing can get Kerry's spirits down at the moment.

After months of fan speculation, hunky boyfriend Ryan Mahoney got down on one knee.

Kerry said yes and hinted that they'd tie the knot in an intimate Las Vegas ceremony rather than a grand bash.

And despite their upcoming nuptials, they're not in any kind of rush to add to their brood.
