Chris Hughes' savage swipe as he claims he got over Jesy Nelson split in 2 weeks
The Love Island hunk broke up with Little Mix star Jesy Nelson over the phone in April after 14 months together
Chris Hughes has opened about his break-up from Jesy Nelson for the first time.
The pair had surprised fans with news of their split back in April, with rumours swirling they'd called time on their 14-month romance over the phone.
While Jesy has already been spotted dating another famous star, a chipper Chris has now admitted that he's also in a good place after the separation.
During an interview with Vicky Pattison, for her podcast The Secret To, Chris said it only took him a 'couple of weeks' to adjust to life without the Little Mix star.
Discussing the unlikely benefits of lockdown, Chris said: "You can actually focus on yourself, which is always a good thing. For me as well, I had a break up! So I needed a bit of focusing on my own stuff. It happened right at the start."
Vicki chimed in to say she couldn't believe it when she heard the news about him and Jesy.
"It was tough," admitted Chris, "and time’s a healer, you don’t believe it when you’re in the moment."
He went on: "I don’t think I’ve ever felt heartbroken or anything. And then a couple of weeks down the line, you start thinking about it less and less. And the next thing, you’re good as gold."
Chris, 27, said he got over the split by confiding in his manager: "It’s good to talk to people like that, you’re the same as well, life experience. People get it and it reflects on you and next minute you feel right as rain."
Jesy and Chris began dating two months after the Little Mix star split from her ex Harry James in November 2018.
After being spotted on a number of dates, the pair soon became regular features on each other's Instagram pages flaunting their romance.
Chris then supported Jesy through the release of her documentary Odd One Out, which went on to win a National Television Award in January - believed to be their last public appearance together.
But just months later, the pair shocked fans by announcing they'd gone their separate ways.
Jesy has now been linked to Our Girl actor Sean Sagar.
Eagle eyed fans spotted the pair leaving flirty messages on each other's social media.
As Jesy posted a shot of her revealing her bra, Sean pped up in the comments 'Riggghhhtttt' followed by a fire emoji.
The pair were spotted enjoying drinks in East London over the weekend at a trendy rooftop bar.
