He was told by the judge: "It is addiction that causes intelligent people, from good backgrounds, who had every prospect, to cheat, lie and steal on a regular basis with a complete incapacity to stop doing so."
Ieuan Callaghan, prosecuting, said when Marco stole £2,496 worth of clothes from Wadswick Country Store, he was with an unknown female.
Marco was found by police in Bath as he was counting money in a car without the clothes.

The court also heard a security guard at Tesco Express in Bath was racially abused by Marco.
The former reality star had been banned from the premises and the victim said they were left hurt and anxious by the incident.
The court heard Marco stole spirits from Waitrose and a credit card holder from Mulberry, both in Bath.
He then went on to steal dishwasher tablets, toiletries and spirits from the Co-op in Bradford Road, Bath, Ray Ban sunglasses from Jollies in Milsom Street, Bath, alcohol and food from a Co-op and more alcohol from Star News, Bath.

Catherine Flint, defending, said Marco had suffered a difficult time while on remand.
She said: "His dad is well-known and known to be wealthy. He has suffered bullying, intimidation, extortion, threats of violence and actual violence.
"He is finding it incredibly difficult in prison. He is terrified at the thought of ever having to go back."
Miss Flint said Marco suffered a car accident when he was 18 and that led to his heroin addiction but had detoxed while in jail despite being offered drugs.
Miss Flint said her client was "deeply ashamed" of the racist language he used towards the security guard and that he was ashamed of his behaviour.
The court heard that Marco has been offered the position of a chef within his father's business when he is released and Miss Flint said: "He would very much like an opportunity from this court for another chance to try and get his life back on track."
