Charlotte Crosby has admitted her mum begged her not to quit college to join Geordie Shore as she longed for her daughter to go to university.

The 30-year-old TV siren shot to fame after bagging a spot on the wild MTV reality show back in 2011.

Char enjoyed seven years of partying alongside her co-stars Holly Hagan, Vicky Pattison and Scotty T before she eventually called it quits in June 2016 after a bitter break-up with on-off boyfriend Gary Beadle.

Ahead of her Geordie Shore : Their Story episode, the bubbly star detailed her journey to becoming one of the biggest reality stars in British television history.

The Sunderland lass told Mirror Online that she "doesn’t like to think" about how her life would have turned out if she hadn’t applied for the series on a whim.

Charlotte explained that the only reason she was brave enough to apply was because she was going through a bitter break-up at the time and felt she had nothing to lose.

“I was going through a bad break-up and I was crying for probably a month straight” she explained.

“So, one night I was just lying in bed and I saw that they were looking for people to audition for this show and I was like ‘why not’, I literally thought to myself you’ve got nothing to lose.

“I don’t like to think about the way my life would have turned out if I hadn’t of applied for the show or hadn’t of been going through a breakup at that time.

"It makes me sad to think about all the opportunities and friends and memories I would have missed out on. It’s crazy to think about!”

While she’s reaped incredible success from her time on Geordie Shore, Charlotte’s mother was "dead set" against her 19-year-old daughter entering the show.

Charlotte was enrolled in an Access course which would have led her down a very different career path and her mum pleaded with her not to give up on her education.

Recalling her mum’s horrified reaction to her auditioning for Geordie Shore, Charlotte laughed: “The day I walked into the camera and said 'Mam, I've got to quit the Access course, I'm going on Geordie Shore....

"Oh I wish I took a picture of her face... it was hilarious!

"It was so funny, she was like 'No! No, you can't do that! You're in college, you just sort it out, you've nearly done your Access course, you're gonna get into uni Charlotte, you can't! You can't do that!"

"You can't go on some stupid TV show. I don't want you too, you can't do it."

Thankfully, Charlotte soon became one of the biggest stars in the UK, meaning she never had to go back and finish her Access course.
