Chadwick Boseman took pay cut on 21 Bridges to increase Sienna Miller's salary
Late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman starred in thriller 21 Bridges alongside actress Sienna Miller and took a pay cut to ensure she got better pay
Late actor Chadwick Boseman donated a portion of his salary on blockbuster 21 Bridges to his co-star Sienna Miller.
The Black Panther star died at the age of 43 last month following a private four-year battle with colon cancer.
Now his former co-star Sienna has told Empire magazine of his generosity in ensuring she could take part in thriller 21 Bridges.
Sienna revealed: "He produced 21 Bridges and had been really active in trying to get me to do it.
"He was a fan of my work, which was thrilling, because it was reciprocated from me to him, tenfold."
However, the actress had been so busy and exhausted she only really wanted to take out such time away from her family for justifiable pay.
"This was a pretty big budget film, and I know that everybody understands about the pay disparity in Hollywood, but I asked for a number that the studio wouldn't get to," revealed the Layer Cake actress.
"And because I was hesitant to go back to work and my daughter was starting school and it was an inconvenient time, I said, ‘I’ll do it if I’m compensated in the right way.'
"And Chadwick ended up donating some of his salary to get me to the number that I had asked for.
"He said that that was what I deserved to be paid."
Sienna went on to describe how rare such behaviour from a male co-star is in Hollywood.
The American Sniper star explained: "It’s just unfathomable to imagine another man in that town behaving that graciously or respectfully.
"In the aftermath of this I've told other male actor friends of mine that story and they all go very, very quiet and go home and probably have to sit and think about things for a while."
Following Chadwick's death last month there has been an outpouring of grief from fans and celebrities alike, including Chadwick's co-stars from Black Panther such as Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong'o.
He was buried near his hometown in Welfare Baptist Church Cemetery in Belton, South Carolina, six days after his death, his death certificate revealed.
