The next Call of Duty game, which is reportedly subtitled Balck Ops Cold War, is seemingly being teased in Modern Warfare’s Warzone battle royale, as there’s an in-game message that’s been popping up saying “know your history.” So, with the game being set during the cold war, you can how players are thinking that this is a tease for this year’s COD game, which will likely be revealed soon, given that the game is on schedule to be released in October/November.
You can take a look at the “know your history” message in the tweet below.

As of this writing, Activision hasn’t commented on the in-game message, but members of the media did receive a locked crate from the COD publisher, which says that it can be unlocked on Monday, August 10. Naturally, this has led many to believe that Black Ops Cold War will be revealed when the crates unlock.
Recently, Treyarch and Raven Software confirmed that they’re developing this year’s Call of Duty game and that its campaign and multiplayer are being tested.
Also, during Activision’s Q1 2020 financial briefing, the publisher confirmed that the game is on track to be released in the fall and that they’ll have something to reveal “soon.”
“The game looks incredible right now and, internally, people are having a ton of fun playing across its campaign mode as well as the online mode the developers are very well known for. All I can say in terms of timing of an announcement is I suspect you’ll be hearing more about this fairly soon.”
At the end of July, images surfaced of a double XP promotion for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, as The Gaming Revolution received a direct message that showcased the aforementioned promotion, which appeared on a Doritos bag. Furthermore, the promotion says that it’ll begin on October 5, which could be the game’s targeted release date.
By this time last year, Activision and Infinity Ward had already revealed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s single-player campaign and its multiplayer. Of course, the circumstances were drastically different last year, but given that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is on track to be released in the fall, it’s likely that we’ll get an official reveal soon, likely coming via the locked crates that’ll unlock on Monday.
