Britney Spears has thanked her fans for their support amid news that she lost her battle to remove her father from her conservatorship.

The Baby One More Time singer failed to remove Jamie Spears from controlling her business and personal affairs after a Los Angeles court made no immediate changes to her 12-year court-appointed conservatorship.

She had asked for her care manager to permanently replace her father Jamie as her conservator, but the court extended the current arrangements until February 2021.

Her fans have long campaigned for Britney to be released from the conservatorship in a campaign that has been dubbed #FreeBritney.

While she didn't specifically mention the campaign, Britney thanked fans for all their "support" in her latest Instagram post.

She wrote in the caption: "I feel like we will look back at this time in quarantine as a huge transitional stage in our lives…..

"We don't know when things will go back to normal but we are staying positive and learning so much about ourselves !!!!

"For me I want to thank all my dear ... sweet ... real fans for being so damn wonderful!!!

"I can feel your hearts and I know you can feel mine. Thank you for your support."

She also shared a video of herself answering fan questions about all her favourite things, including her favourite restaurant and book.

In the clip she donned a cropped blouse with a pretty floral pattern.

Britney wore dark eye makeup and let her blonde locks flow loose around her shoulders.

The singer's father was appointed conservator in 2008 after the pop star was hospitalised for psychiatric treatment.
