Britney Spears and Madonna threw it back to 2003 with a photo of them snogging at the Toxic singer's wedding day - very much like their iconic moment on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards

Britney Spears and Madonna recreated their iconic MTV snog at the Toxic hitmaker's wedding day.

The two Grammy-winning artists shared a flirty kiss as they celebrated Britney's marriage to Sam Asghari on Thursday.

Back in 2003, the songstresses shared a kiss while on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards after performing their song, Me Against the Music, together.

At the time, Britney opened up about their kiss, saying: "I didn't know it was going to be that long and everything. I've never kissed a woman before."

And yesterday, it seems the two women recreated their iconic moment for fans to see once again.

In their modern version, the two women posed for the camera as they pecked each other on the lips.

Madonna looked gorgeous in a funky plunge dress, while Britney wowed in a daring red dress.

Britney and her new husband exchanged their vows in front of a small room of people.

As previously reported, the exclusive guest list did not include Britney's mum Lynne Spears, dad Jamie Spears or sister Jamie Lynn Spears, but the likes of Selena Gomez and Donatella Versace were in attendance.

The songstress wore a dress designed by Versace, with sources telling E! Online the gown featured an off-the-shoulder cap sleeve and with a deep V-shaped slit in the leg.

She is said to have completed her look with a selection of jewellery by Stephanie Gottlieb, while her makeup was by Charlotte Tilbury.

The source added the star walked down the aisle to Elvis Presley's song "Can't Help Falling in Love."

Actor and model Sam popped the question to the I'm A Slave 4 U hitmaker back in September, shortly after Britney was freed from her 13-year conservatorship.

Her wedding to Sam is actually the third time the pop icon has tied the knot.

In 2004, she got married to childhood friend Jason Alexander and, a few months later, she tied the knot with Kevin Federline.

She shares two children with K-Fed, and the two stayed married until 2007.

In January of 2004, Britney and Jason got married in a chapel in Las Vegas after hours of partying.

However, the marriage only lasted 55 hours as Britney immediately got it annulled after doing 'something wild, crazy.'

A mere half a year later, Britney got engaged to backup dancer Kevin Federline after meeting him on the dancer floor at Joseph's club in Hollywood.

The couple announced their engagement in July 2004 and married in a secret ceremony in October in front of a small crowd.
