When Caitlyn and Kris Jenner announced they were parting ways, the split seemed very amicable on the surface.

In a joint statement in October 2013, the couple of 23 years announced that although they were separated they would "always remain best friends and, as always, our family will remain our number one priority."

Caitlyn then announced to the world that she was transgender in a powerful interview with Diane Sawyer in April 2015.

When Caitlyn Jenner first transitioned, her step-daughter Kim Kardashian's reaction was nothing but positive.

"She's beautiful, and I'm so proud that she can just be her authentic self. I guess that's what life is about," gushed the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star.

But the positive feelings came to an abrupt end after Caitlyn made some shocking claims in a series of explosive interviews.

Cait showed off her stunning new look on the front cover of Vanity Fair in June 2015, but it was the accompanying comments about ex Kris that did not go down well with the Kardashian clan.

"I think in a lot of ways she became less tolerant of me. Then I'd get upset, and the whole relationship kind of fizzled," explained Caitlyn.

She accused Kris of making her feel “weak and inferior” and claimed she knew all about her desire to be a woman - something Kris vehemently denies.

According to Kris, "there wasn't a gender issues, nobody mentioned a gender issues."

But Caitlyn claimed she was a "solid B cup" when they met after a previous, aborted transition and said she even dressed up in front of his wife.

Furious Kris was seen clearly upset during an October 2015 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians as she reacted to Caitlyn's claims.

"He can go f*** himself. I honestly wish I never met this man. I mean, just f*** you, Bruce," she yelled down the phone to Kim.

And Kim's compassion was also beginning to wane.

"All Caitlyn can talk about is that my mum mistreated her and was awful and all these really rude things, when there's no reason to bash my mum," she said.

But it was Khloe - who'd looked to Bruce as a father figure following the death of her own dad Robert from cancer in 2003 - who was the most outraged.

Khloe told Caitlyn: "We want to support you and be there for you.

“But, we don't think that that entails you speaking negatively about my mom. In our opinion, you don't even need to mention our mom ... let's not drag my mom through the mud."

She claimed Cait refused to tell them the truth about her new identity and left them to find out through the media.

"We kept asking him, 'Bruce, like what's going on? We're hearing all these rumours?' and he kept telling us one thing but really he knew he was transitioning and wouldn't be honest with us," she told The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

"So really we felt like the last to know so that was hard for us, especially me."

Khloe was less measured on the Howard Stern Show, raging, "I don't give a f*** what you want to do - just stop lying to us about things... Just lay it on the table, what are we doing? What's happening? Even then he didn't tell us... we didn't know when he was going to start fully dressing as Caitlyn."

Caitlyn reportedly reacted to her outburst with a slew of angry messages, but Khloe was unapologetic.

"I said, 'You slaughtered my mother and you have the nerve to say, 'What happened to family sticking together?' You jumped that ship as soon as you attacked my mum.'

"... She can tell me to f*** off all she wants. I don't have a relationship with her. I'm done."

At the apparent behest of her husband Kayne West, Kim eventually thawed and tried to remain "neutral", helping Caitlyn get ready for the ESPY Awards in July 2016.

But when Kris found out, she was devastated.

"I want loyalty. I don't want f***ing neutral. I'm trying to be as gracious as I can, I'm trying to be as understanding as I can. I'm betrayed. I've been f***ed over on so many levels that your head would spin," the matriarch fumed.

And just when it looked as though the familial animosity was at an all-time high, Caitlyn released her tell all book, The Secrets Of My Life.

She once again went in on Kris and shared intimate details of their "uncomfortable" sex life.

“I tell Kris about my gender issues before I make love to her. This will always be a subject of dispute between us,” Caitlyn wrote, claiming she kept her female clothes in a locked closet with Kris' permission.

The family's reaction was fast and furious, with Kim accusing her step-parent of trying to achieve success at the family's expense.

Asked what the chances were of Kris and Caitlyn ever speaking again, she sniped, "Zero, one, no, two per cent and those are Kendall and Kylie. All fair, I think."

Kourtney branded Caitlyn's claims "pathetic" and even Kendall - who had remained close to Caitlyn - was livid, banging the kitchen table in fury.

"She goes around dissing the Kardashians but those are the kids that you raised, if you have a problem with them you raised them," she raged.

"It makes no sense to me that she would go around bashing them for no reason, that's insane."

A prolonged estrangement followed with Kim, Kourtney and Khloe refusing to speak to Caitlyn.

Kris added: "I really tried hard to improve the relationship and spend a little bit of time, thinking maybe there's something here that I'm not seeing.

“I’ve done nothing but open up my home, and my heart, to a person who doesn't give a s***. So, I'm done."

Admitting she hadn't spoken to Khloe for two years, Caitlyn hit back by claiming the blame laid on the Kardashian side.

"It's been a little bit tough over the last couple of years on the Kardashian side," Caitlyn said at a Cambridge University talk in November 2017.

"They don't want me in their lives, they bashed me pretty badly. It's devastating when your kids do that. It really hurt.

"In the book I express some opinions and got shot down. It was not about the Kardashians. They were only mentioned on 20 pages.

"They made it more about them on television. The book was about my life. That's caused a lot of the separation between us."

But appearing on Piers Morgan's Life Stories later that year, Cait once again fuelled the fire by admitting she sent Kim a copy of her book but removed the section about her transition because she didn't "trust" her own family not to leak it to the press.

"No I didn’t tell anybody. Why? It’s none of their business", I didn’t want them to leak it to the press. There was no reason for them to know about it," she argued.

On other occasions she pondered whether her actual transition was the reason why her children stayed away. For Khloe, it was too much.

"I'm the victim, I'm the victim, they don't want to see me'. Oh f*** off and it's not because you're trans. That's not why I'm not talking to you. I'm not talking to you because you're a bad, mean person," she raged on KUWTK.

When Caitlyn turned 70 with a star-studded party hosted by Kylie in October, Khloe was a no show due to a prior work commitment.

All five sisters maintained a radio silence as Caitlyn entered the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here jungle, with not a single one tweeting their support.

There was outrage when Caitlyn left the jungle and known of her family greeted her at the end of the bridge - with only pal Sophia Hutchins flying out to Australia.

However, Khloe recently revealed that she and Cait are at last on good terms.

"When I see Caitlyn, it’s fine,” she said.

“I think we’ve really come a long way. It was a struggle, I think for all of us, at first the transition. Not because she was transitioning, I think, from just how it was all handled.
