Billie Piper ‘rushed to hospital after injuring herself dancing on I Hate Suzie set’

Singer-turned-actress Billie Piper was filming a Strictly Come Dancing-inspired segment for the new series of her hit-Sky Max TV show I Hate Suzie when she is said to have been taken to hospital with a back injury

Billie Piper was reportedly rushed to hospital after injuring her back while filming scenes for the new series of her hit- Sky TV show.

According to an show source, the 39-year-old Doctor Who star “hurt herself quite badly” while attempting to learn the moves for a Strictly Come Dancing -inspired scene.

The fictional Sky Max programme follows Billie’s character, a celebrity called Suzie Pickles, appear in a TV series called Dance Crazee.

“It was a case of life imitating art as she found out just how challenging taking part in a contest like this can be,” a source told The Sun.

“Billie hurt herself quite badly trying to master some challenging moves and it was decided it would be best if she went to hospital to get checked out properly.

“In the end she was fine but the setback will have some impact on filming.

“That will be a double blow for Billie as she’s not just the lead star but also co-created the show.”

Back in 2021, the actress, known for her role as Rose Tyler in Doctor Who, said that she had found inspiration to create the semi-autobiographical show as she came to terms with her "acute anxiety".

She said: “I think I’m just coming to terms with the fact that I actually have quite acute anxiety, and I know I managed that as a kid.

“Also, nobody was talking about it, so you couldn’t name it, and therefore it can often go unnoticed.”

The second series of the show sees the return of child star turned actress Suzie Pickles, played by Billie.

In the new episodes, Pickles will have a new agent, new PR and a new job – dancing for likes on 'Dance Crazee', a reality TV competition.

Battling ex-husband Cob, played by Daniel Ings, with the help of estranged best friend Naomi, played by, Leila Farzad), Suzie must try to keep life as stable as possible for her young son Frank, played by Matthew Jordan-Caws

She must do all of that whilst staying on 'Dance Crazee' long enough to finance her new role as single mum and ex-wife.

“In this three-part anti-Christmas Christmas special, Suzie fights to regain the love of the British public whilst her personal life spirals out of control," reads the shows synopsis.

“Will she win the hearts of the British public? And restore her reputation? And at what cost?'”
