Billie Piper has suggested the only way to make it in the creative industry is to be boring and shun a wild lifestyle.
The 37-year-old has been living in the spotlight since she was a teenager – first dipping her toe in to the world of acting aged just 13 when she featured on a show called Scratchy & Co before going on to make pop history when she entered the music world aged 15.
And while the star has a past that includes headline-grabbing wild behaviour, she has rejected the suggestion that people can be both successful and lead a raucous lifestyle.
Opening up to the Mail on Sunday, Billie hinted it’s more important to lead a “boring” life rather than going out and downing drinks.
She said: “It’s nonsense that you can write a beautiful piece of work and be completely hammered.”
Billie is currently starring in the hit Sky Atlantic drama I Hate Suzie in which she plays a “lewd” character whose life is thrown into chaos when her phone is hacked, unleashing compromising photographs to the world.
The show has been lauded by critics, with the Guardian praising Billie for her performance as “nude, lewd and joyously off the rails.”
The character is a contrast to Billie’s insistence of being someone who tries to avoid controversy and she has previously attracted intense media attention.
Back in 2001, Billie's romance with radio and TV host Chris Evans, who she married after six months of dating hit the headlines.
The pair were often papped together boozing around London during their marriage.
The pair separated in 2005 and were divorced by 2007, although have remained on friendly terms.
Billie's acting career has seen her take on some racy roles in the past – famously playing high-end hooker Hannah 'Belle' Baxter in Secret Diary of a Call Girl between 2007 and 2011.
