Ben Affleck lets slip real reason for first Jennifer split in emotional wedding speech

Ben Affleck finally opened up about the real reason why he first split from Jennifer Lopez 18 years ago at the couple's wedding at the weekend, according to reports.

The gorgeous pair said 'I do' for the second time at the actor's estate in Georgia, at which Ben, 50, is said to have made an emotional wedding speech.

According to a source, the actor reckoned he and JLo, 53, didn't get married in 2004 was so they could go onto have their respective children.

After splitting with JLo, Ben went onto welcome daughters Violet, in 2005, Seraphina, in 2009 and son, Samuel, in 2012 with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

JLo, meanwhile had twins Emme and Max with Latin singer Marc Anthony in 2008.

A source told US Weekly: "Ben made an impassioned speech professing his love for Jennifer and her kids and said the children are the blessing and gift that happened because they didn’t get married before and that is proof that everything happens for a reason."

The couple's children were said to be a a big part of the couple's wedding.

A source told People: "Jennifer loved having all the kids there. She loved the location. It all felt very special. It was a dream for her."

The Get Right star was spotted bonding with Ben's daughters last week as she prepared for her big day.

Jennifer enjoyed a girls day with Seraphina and her own daughter Emme in New York ahead of her hubby's 50th birthday.

The star was papped in the city grabbing lunch at celeb eatery Sadelle's before enjoying the Into the Woods Broadway musical at St. James Theatre.

Jen was also seen spending time with Ben's other daughter Violet as they hit Bergdorf Goodman for some shopping.

Last week Ben and Jen celebrated one month of marriage having previously said 'I do' in Las Vegas.

Not content with one wedding they decided to do it all over again in Georgia.

No expense was spared for their special day with Jennifer recently sharing pics of her three stunning wedding dresses.

The Bronx-born star met Ben in 2002 on the set of their film Gigli. At the time, the Love Don't Cost a Thing singer was married to her second husband, Cris Judd.

Ben gushed over Jennifer when he took out a full-page ad in trade magazines, musing: "It has been nothing but an honour and a pleasure to work with you.

The actor proposed to the JLo the same year with a 6.1-carat pink diamond ring worth £2 million.

However, just four months later, at the beginning of 2004, the couple announced they decided to go their separate ways.

But fast forward 18 years and they're now married with five kids between them - making the most of their blended family.
