Baylor-Oklahoma St. rescheduled due to COVID-19 outbreak

The Big 12 clash between No. 7 Oklahoma State and Baylor has been moved from Saturday to Dec. 12 in Waco, Texas.

Baylor suspended football operations on Thursday because of a rash of positive COVID-19 tests within the program. “We are disappointed to postpone another game,” Baylor athletic director Mack B. Rhoades said. “However, the significant increase in positive COVID-19 cases has led to concerns of an outbreak and the decision to suspend team practice through October 17. Secondly, this has caused a position group to fall below the minimum threshold of available players.”

Baylor’s COVID-19 issues continue

Baylor (1-1, 1-1 Big 12) has been forced to call off two other games. The Sept. 12 opener against Louisiana Tech was called because of positive tests on the Bulldogs’ roster. The Sept. 19 game with Houston was postponed because the Bears didn’t have enough players at one position.

Baylor is scheduled to play on Oct. 24 at Texas.

The Cowboys (3-0, 2-0 Big 12) have had minimal disruptions to their schedule. Their game against Tulsa was moved from Sept. 12 to Sept. 19.

The Big 12 said that the league’s championship game remains tentatively scheduled for Dec. 12 but could be moved to Dec. 19 if the outcome of the Oklahoma State-Baylor will determine the title game participants.
