The legendary Ruth Bader Ginsburg has passed away at the age of 87 after her battle with pancreas cancer and many have been paying tribute to her, the former President being one of them! Here us what he had to say in his powerful message.
Barack Obama took to social media to share a pic of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and honored her for being such a ‘warrior for gender equality.’
He shared a photo that featured him and Ginsburg at the White House and in the caption, he wrote: ‘Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg fought to the very end, through her cancer, with unwavering faith in democracy and its ideals. That is how we remember her. But she left instructions for how she wanted her legacy to be honored as well.’
Here, Barack was referring to how she requeted to not be replaced before a new president is elected instead of Donald Trump.
Obama’s inspiring tribute went on, the former POTUS highlighting how Ruth Bader Ginsburg applied to be a Supreme Court clerk 60 years ago but was rejected based on her gender even though she had studied at the most prestigious law schools and had ‘ringing recommendations.’
Then, ‘Ten years later, she sent her first brief to the Supreme Court – and this led it to strike down a law based on gender discrimination for the first time. And then, for nearly 3 decades, as the second woman to sit on the highest court in the land, she was a warrior for gender equality – somebody who believed equal justice under law only had meaning if it applied to every single American.’

He also mentioned how much of an inspiration she was to both him and Michelle Obama and expressed gratitude towards her huge legacy in the country.
