Art Attack's Neil Buchanan unveiled as Banksy in bizarre viral fan theory
A new fan theory has emerged on social media that suggests enigmatic street artist Banksy is actually Art Attack presenter Neil Buchanan
A wild new fan theory on social media has claimed that Banksy is actually Art Attack presenter Neil Buchanan.
The theory suggests that the prolific children's TV presenter and artist Neil Buchanan, 58, is the alter-ego of the elusive street artist known as Banksy.
Twitter user Scouserman wrote: "Just heard that it's rumoured Neil Buchanan is Banksy.
"If true, it's the funniest s*** ever. Aintree's finest.
"He's a musician and art has followed in the cities of shows he's done allegedly.
"This is straight in the believe without question category."
Naturally, the theory went down a treat with other social media users and went viral over the weekend.
One person replied to the theory: "Loving this theory but even if it's not true Neil's a legend in my mind!"
Another Twitter user wrote: "I very much want this to be true because he and Art Attack were awesome. One of the very few CITV programmes I was allowed to watch! Apart from that, How2, Children’s Ward and Press Gang, we were a strictly CBBC house."
Meanwhile, a different person commented: "I am now fully committing to this. it'll be a cold day in hell when I am convinced otherwise."
Elsewhere, a different individual opined: "They say not to believe everything you read online but I 100% believe this. Don't even need to look up the cities for confirmation. Neil is Banksy, Banksy is Neil."
Finally, one Art Attack fan concluded: "This is canon now as far as im concerned. All the puzzle pieces (none) fit".
Alas, however, the fan theory is entirely untrue.
Neil Buchanan's official website released an official statement denying the Banksy claim, which says: " Neil Buchanan is NOT Banksy.
"PLEASE NOTE: We have been inundated with enquiries over the weekend regarding the current social media story.
"Unfortunately this website does not have the infrastructure to answer all these enquiries individually, however we can confirm that there is no truth in the rumour whatsoever.
"Neil spent Lockdown with vulnerable members of his family and is now preparing to launch his new art collection in 2021.
"Thank you and please stay safe."
Well, the idea was fun while it lasted!
