The French midfielder made a pretty reckless challenge on Hector Bellerin, and according to many, his reaction was a bit amateur and without reason. Yet, all that was accepted with open hands on the other side, and Arsenal used the chance to hurt the hosts, who disappointed their fans after a 5-0 victory against RB Leipzig in the Champions League this midweek.

Overall, the game was a very dull one without too much excitement, even though it promised a lot. Arsenal was waiting for the counter-attacks, preserving the ball in its possession, and on the other side, the home team tried to score after some individual efforts and fast transitioning.

United’s best opportunity for scoring was with five minutes before the end, when the ball deflected of Mohamed Elneny, to Bernd Leno’s head and after that into the post. Luckily for the Gunners, the ball went wide, and they kept the lead. Donny Van de Beek previously made a sharp cross to the box, which hit Elneny in the first place.

For Arsenal, this is a massive success, as they won at Trafford after 14 years of waiting. But not only that. For the first time in 2,114 days, Arsenal beat a member of the “Big Six” indicating that they need to be taken seriously in the future.

Mikel Arteta had time to form a team according to his needs and vision, and several solid players landed at Emirates this summer. Even though Arsenal isn’t consistent, the performances this unit posts are getting better and better as time goes by.

Manchester again brought frustration to its fans. That massive victory against the Bulls was supposed to create a big swing, but like so many times before, United managed to waste everything.

Their next match in the Champions League will be against the Turkish champions Istanbul BB, on the road. Meanwhile, Arsenal awaits Molde at home, the previous club of United’s current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
