Archie Lyndhurst’s famous dad Nicholas begged him not to go into showbiz

Only Fools And Horses star Nicholas Lyndhurst is grieving the loss of his 19-year-old son Archie.

The teenager was found at his family's home in west London last week and the circumstances of his death are said to be "non-suspicious".

Archie followed in his dad's star-studded footsteps into the world of acting and was already a star himself after shooting to fame on CBBC series So Awkward.

But as a youngster when he told his dad he had dreams of being an actor his famous father begged him not to enter the showbiz circuit.

During an interview with Tressa magazine in March, Archie - who worked alongside Jack Whitehall in the comedy show Bad Education - recalled telling his dad that he wanted to be an actor and how his father reacted to the career choice.

He said: "I knew I wanted to be an actor when I was eight. At the time, I didn’t know my dad was an actor, and he kept trying to say to me that I shouldn’t start acting.

"I then found out that he was an actor and said that if he can do it, I can do it as well! That didn’t change anything though as he still wouldn’t let me do it.

"He eventually asked me why I wanted to be an actor, and I said it’s because I wanted to make people laugh. He then sent me to drama school, I got my first agent, I started getting work, and now I’m here. I’m incredibly grateful for everything I’ve been given."

And speaking to The Guardian in 2015, Nicholas discussed his response to when Archie revealed he had set his sights on becoming a thespian.

Nicholas said he remembered saying: “I can’t offer any advice other than please don’t do it.”

He said Archie replied: “Daddy, I just want to entertain people.”

Sharing on talking about the idea with his wife, Nicholas added: "I told Lucy 'If I ever hear him say the f-word – famous – the deal’s off- he never has. He’s filming his second series for CBBC, So Awkward, I wish I’d been as good as him at his age."

Emergency services were alerted to his home where Archie was declared dead at the scene on September 22.

An inquest into Archie's death will be held next week.
