Amber Heard says she 'doesn't blame' jury for Depp trial verdict

Amber Heard has said she is still in love with ex-husband Johnny Depp, despite losing her multi-million dollar defamation case in court.

The 36-year-old actress has also tread a fine line with her thoughts on the verdict, claiming she is not a "likeable" or "perfect victim".

The Aquaman star has been speaking out about the court case and the effect it has had on her.

Speaking to NBC News' Savannah Guthrie, Amber confirmed she "absolutely" still "has love" for the 58-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star.

Amber says in the interview, which will air in the US on Friday: 'I love him. I loved him with all my heart. And I tried the best I could to make a deeply broken relationship work and I couldn't."

She continued: "I have no bad feelings or ill will towards him at all.

"I know that might be hard to understand or it might be really easy to understand if you've just ever loved anyone."

Amber has already said that there has been a lot of vitriol directed at her by supporters of Johnny after she believed "the vast majority of this trial was played out on social media."

After being asked about a text from Johnny in which he said that there would be "total global humiliation" for Amber, she claimed: "I'm not a good victim, I get it."

Amber continued on that theme, saying: "I'm not a likeable victim, I'm not a perfect victim. But when I testified I asked the jury to see me and hear his own words which is a promise to do this."

The defamation trial came about after Johnny claimed that Amber's op-ed for the Washington Post in 2018 about her experience of domestic violence, was directed at him despite his name not being mentioned.

Amber now says she is nervous to speak out further as she had "took for granted what I assumed was my right to speak".

The actress continued: "I'm scared that no matter what I do, no matter what I say or how I say it, every step that I take will present another opportunity for this sort of silencing."

Amber said she also fears that Johnny could sue her again in the future.

She said: "Which is what I guess a defamation lawsuit is meant to do - to take your voice."

Speaking about what her plans for the future, Amber said that for now she was going to focus on her one-year-old daughter and being a full-time mum before deciding whether she would take on another acting role.
