Amber Heard describes 'three-day hostage situation' where Johnny Depp 'repeatedly beat her'

Amber Heard, 34, described being 'trapped' in a remote house twenty minutes from help during a trip to Australia with Johnny Depp, who she called a violent, depressive drug user in a witness statement heard today

Amber Heard described being held in a 'three day hostage station' where she endured physical and psychological violence from Johnny Depp who fell into a 'drug and alcohol binge,' as she gave evidence at the High Court today.

The actress, 34, took to the witness box to accuse her former husband, 57, of repeatedly abusing her during their marriage as part of Depp's libel case against The Sun.

Depp denies 14 allegations of domestic violence against Heard and is suing The Sun over an article from 2018 that described him as a 'wife beater.'

At day 11 of the hearing today, the court heard a witness statement given by Heard about her time in Australia with Depp in 2015.

She began: "The best way I can describe what happened in Australia is that it was like a three-day hostage situation.

"We were due to be there for three days on our own, but it was only when I arrived that I realised I was trapped in this remote place without any means to leave and that Johnny had already been using and had a bag of drugs.

"I was in a remote house, at least twenty minutes from help; where I could not leave; was trapped and isolated with a violent person suffering from manic depression, bipolar disorder and a pattern of repeated, drug induced psychosis and violence, who was on a multiple day drug and alcohol binge.

"Over the course of those three days, there were extreme acts of psychological, physical, emotional and other forms of violence. It is the worst thing I have ever been through. I was left with an injured lip and nose and cuts on my arms," she claimed.

Eleanor Laws QC, representing Depp, said Heard phoned her sister after the alleged incident and said she wanted to come home.

As Heard took to the witness stand today, Laws asked why she had not mentioned the three-day hostage ordeal in the call to her sister.

"I don't remember what I said to her because I don't remember the call. I certainly would not recall to her everything that happened to me,'" replied Heard.

The actress said a five-hour recording of the aftermath of the incident was recorded on her phone. But she said Depp must have done it.

Laws said that was another thing Heard had never mentioned that in her statements before.

"There is not every single detail of everything in my statement," replied Heard.

The Aquaman actress also accepted that she had an iPad in the house and could have used Facetime.

Laws asked why, if Heard had really been in fear of her life in that house, she had gone back a few weeks later with Depp.

"I disagree. The house was not the problem.

"Johnny, the monster, nearly killed me.

"But I loved him.''

Heard said Depp promised her he would 'get clean and sober for once' after the incident. She said she thought, "the monster had been put away forever and our lives would be better."
