Alison King’s ‘immense guilt’ for giving birth on day Kym Marsh lost son

Alison King told devastated Kym Marsh she felt "immense guilt" about giving birth on the same day she lost her son.

It's 11 years since Coronation Street beauty Kym grieved the loss of her baby Archie in February 2009.

He tragically died moments after he had been born, 21 weeks and five days too early.

The 44-year-old actress revealed her close friend Alison's incredible torment about giving birth to her healthy daughter Daisy on the very same day.

Kym says her co-star couldn't properly enjoy the moment because of the suffering she knew her pal was going through.

"My friend Alison King, a really good friend, of mine gave birth to her daughter on the very same day that I lost my son – literally hours apart," she said on her new BBC show Morning Live.

"And the immense guilt that she felt at the fact that she’d delivered her baby so safely and I’d lost my son, was such a hard time for both of us."

Kym has two grown up children David, 25, and Emily, 23, who she shares with former partner Dave Cunliffe.

The star also raises her nine-year-old daughter Polly with former hubby Jamie.

But Kym added: "We bonded through that even more and, now we share the birthday pictures.

"I’ll light a candle for Archie, and I’ll send her a picture, and she’ll send me a picture of Daisy."

Looking back, the actress admitted initially she didn't want to talk about her heartache because then "it would be real".

"When I lost my son, Archie, 11 years ago now and I lost him quite late in my pregnancy," she added.

"I personally didn't want to talk about it initially, because I felt that if I talked about it, it would be real.

"Some people didn't want to come to his funeral because they felt - they just couldn't cope with such a small baby's funeral.
