Alison Hammond has announced her second new role at ITV just days after The Mirror revealed she is to join the This Morning presenting team full time.

The former Big Brother star is set to replace Friday regulars Ruth Lansford and Eamonn Holmes on the award-winning ITV daytime show, alongside Dermot O'Leary after impressing bosses with their partnership.

Following news of the This Morning shake-up, a defiant Alison took to social media to share her latest new job role at the station.

The 45-year-old told her fans that ITV have made her the host of a brand new podcast, entitled My Life in TV.

The show will see Alison relive some of her favourite telly moments with a panel of celebrity guests.

She told her followers: "BREAKING NEWS Guess what? @ITV have given me my very own podcast - My Life In TV. YIPEE !!

"I’ll delve into the fave telly moments & memories of famous faces including Emily Atack, Joel Dommett, AJ Odudu, Mo Gilligan and Olivia Attwood."

ITV also shared the appointment on their official twitter page, writing 'Yep, that's right. We're launching a brand new podcast, hosted by the absolute icon, Alison Hammond."

Alison immediately got a supportive reception from her showbiz pals and admirers.

Scarlett Moffatt and Strictly's Clara Amfo immediately responded with a series of applause emojis.

Former Blue Peter presenter Angelica Bell wrote back: "Congratulations hun! Boom!" and fellow I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! alumni Jake Quickenden told her: "Well in girl x "

A fan of the presenter also shared her joy at the latest announcement, telling the star: "Getting the breaks you deserve. So what you started off on reality TV?! You worked hard and proved yourself. You are a star...."

It comes days after it was revealed that Alison and Dermot O'Leary are to be the new faces of Friday's This Morning team as they replace husband and wife duo Ruth and Eamonn who have held the role for 14 years.

ITV veterans Ruth and Eamonn are said to be 'furious and upset' over the move but have yet to speak out directly.

However, the night before the reveal, Eamonn, 60, spoke to fans on a Belfast Live Facebook chat where he admitted it was 'stressful' knowing that social media trolls were trying to have him sacked from his job.

He said: “People say it’s water off a duck’s back but people wake up and they know they can get you sacked... that’s the thing about live TV. It can be very stressful.”

While in an interview wit the Mirror Notebook this weekend, Ruth said she and Eamonn had worked hard to front front This Morning and 'didn't do reality TV'.

"We've put the work in. We didn't do a reality show and get an overnight job on the telly. We've come up through the ranks. Eamonn was only 19 when he started out. And he was doing the teatime news in Belfast during The Troubles," said Ruth.

"It was heavy stuff," she added. "And he's now got an OBE for services to broadcasting."

In a shake-up of presenters, the couple will instead be given the job of hosting the main programme for six weeks in the summer holidays, when main hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby take a break.

An insider said: “ITV has been open about wanting to diversify and make the show ‘less white’ but they haven’t tried to find anything else for them.

"Ruth will remain on Loose Women and they will do school holidays. But Eamonn hasn’t been offered a role anywhere else on the channel, which is a real shame for him.”

Alison, who has been a roving reporter on the show for years, is said to have impressed producers with her chemistry with Eamonn and flair for presenting.
