Alec Baldwin claims he’s been ‘fired’ from acting job due to Rust shooting incident

The Hollywood star has hinted he is struggling to secure work following the fatal shooting of European cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October last year

Alec Baldwin has claimed he has been losing work since the fatal shooting of film cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October last year.

The 64-year-old Hollywood actor was on set of a Westernd film titled Rust when a gun was discharged with a bullet hitting both Halyna and film director Joel Souza, 49.

While Joel was treated for the injuries that he sustained following the firing of the gun, Halyna tragically passed away at the age of 42 after the bullet passed through her.

Discussing how the incident has affected his career, Alec said that he has struggled to secure work while Hollywood continues to process the impact of the fateful incident.

Alec told CNN: "I got fired from another job yesterday.

"There I was all set to go to a movie, jump on a plane ... I've been talking with these guys for months and they told me yesterday we don't want to do the film with you because of this."

He went on to claim that the stress of the incident has "taken years off my life" - while crediting his wife, Hilaria, for helping prevent him from quitting the industry entirely.

He told the news channel: “If I didn't have my wife, I don't know where I would be right now.

"If I didn't have her, I probably would have quit, retired, gone off, you know sold everything I owned, got a house in the middle of nowhere and just you know did find something else to do, sell real estate.”

He also made a point of expressing that he is not “the victim” of the shooting.

Halyna left behind her husband and young son when she was shot and killed on 21 October last year following the incident.

She was struck by a bullet that travelled through her body - going on to strike director Joel - and died later in hospital despite being rushed to treatment via helicopter.

It has been widely reported that Alex was the one to fire the weapon in a stunt gone wrong.

Earlier this summer, Alec’s wife Hilaria gave an update on the latest child that she and her Hollywood star husband are expecting together.

The couple already have six children together – with a new daughter due to join the family in the coming month.

The 38-year-old yoga instructor already has daughter Carmen, eight, sons Rafael, six, Leonardo, five, Romeo, four, and Eduardo, one and daughter Maria, one, with Alec, who is set to welcome his eighth child after having 26-year-old daughter Ireland with ex-wife Kim Basinger.

Hilaria posted a photo of her unborn child's sonogram on Instagram back in June, with the caption: "Newest Baldwinita says hi", followed by a sparkles emoji.
