As for many doting parents across the country, it has been an emotional few days for celebrity mums and dads as they finally drop their kids off at school.

Among the stars sending their children to school this week was Coronation Street star Alan Halsall, who couldn't contain his excitement as daughter Sienna-Rae headed into Year 2.

Sharing a moving post with his 209,000 Instagram followers, the actor - known for playing Tyrone Dobbs - revealed he was incredibly proud of his 'princess'.

In the cheerful snap, Sienna beamed from ear to ear as she modelled her smart school uniform that came with a black dress, shirt and tie.

"My big girl. She was soooo excited to get back to school today & start Year 2. Daddy is so proud of you a princess, Have fun xxx," the doting dad gushed in his social media post.

" #growinguptoofast#year2#back2school," he added.

Lots of parents - including I'm A Celebrity's Andy Whyment - took to the comment section to wish Sienna a good first day back.

While Alan expressed his excitement for his daughter, TOWIE star Sam Faiers reportedly 'bawled her eyes out' as her son headed for his first day at school.

In an emotional social media post on Wednesday, the Essex-born bombshell shared an adorable picture of her four-year-old son, Paul, suited and booted in his new school uniform.

She told her followers: "Paul’s first day at school, honestly it was so emotional. for those who aren’t there yet, brace yourself. he said to me when we was in the car 'I love you Mummy, are you going to cry happy tears?'"

"I wasn’t even crying at this point (then I literally balled my eyes out) it’s such a huge milestone and a new chapter of life."

The doting mum of two then expressed her hopes that everyone's kids have settled in nicely.

Alan Halsall and Sam Faiers aren't the only celebrity parents that have faced an emotional few days.

Stacey Solomon was reduced to tears as she sent her eldest two sons to school today.

"Ah... I don't know if I'm relieved or what. It's such a weird feeling," she told followers, after six months of having her sons at home.
