Adam Brody has opened up about the possibility of an on-screen reunion of The OC – over 13 years after the hit teen drama came off the air.

The 40-year-old actor played endearing high school geek Seth Cohen on the show which aired for four seasons and 92 episodes between 2003 and 2007.

While his co-stars included his on and off screen girlfriend at the time Rachel Bilson, 39, as Summer Roberts brooding actor Ben McKenzie, 42, as Ryan Atwood, and iconic British actress Mischa Barton, 34, as Marissa Cooper.

While many casts of iconic TV shows and films have been reuniting in recent months for Zoom reunions, Adam warns fans shouldn’t get excited for a reboot of the show or even an online reunion.

He told Entertainment Tonight: "Not that I know of. I haven’t been involved in any of that.

”There was a dinner in the works and then I think it got shut down because of all this…The Zoom cast reunion is a big thing right now."

He went on to reflect positively on his time on the show.

He gushed: ”[Playing Seth] gave me a lot of opportunities and I always, rightly or wrongly, had some belief in my abilities that I knew that I could probably vary it up.

“While that character will always be a big part of [my life], maybe the thing I'm always most known for probably, I knew that I had a lot more to give and get those opportunities.”

However he made it sound like he had bid the character farewell when the series concluded in 2007.

He said: ”That said, I thought about it the most probably the first couple of years on that show…I did what I wanted to do, but I don't want to say it handcuffed me a little bit, but I felt like, 'OK, I'm doing this by day. Any other opportunities I get, I got to make sure that they really fit my code of whatever I think is different.

“I’ve got to differentiate myself and I certainly haven't worried about that since."

Adam recently featured in the star studded historical and political drama Mrs America, co-starring Cate Blanchett, Rose Byrne, Uzo Aduba, Elizabeth Banks, Sarah Paulson and Tracey Ullman.
