Amber Heard says she ‘never felt more lonely in her life’ than on her wedding day to Johnny Depp
Amber Heard has claimed that she got into a fight with Johnny Depp on their wedding day in 2015 over his alleged drug use
Amber Heard called her wedding day to Johnny Depp “the loneliest of her life”, the court heard.
The actress, 34, was giving her testimony at Depp’s libel trial against NGN over a 2018 article in The Sun calling him a “wife beater”, which he strenuously denies.
She claimed they had a fight on her wedding day in 2015 over his alleged drug use.
Amber said: “He had lost weight and he would disappear into the bathroom for long periods during the wedding.
“He was even more possessive than usual and he was just not making sense a lot of the time.
“I tried to smile through it and entertain our guests. But I had never felt more lonely in my life.”
The High Court heard previously how the couple’s wedding schedule read: “Seven pm, rehearsal dinner, after dance party and drugs and music.”
Heard claimed Depp, 57, was abusive before and during their marriage.
In her witness statement she claimed Depp threatened to kill on several occasions.
She alleges that Depp told her “death was the only way out” of their marriage.
Heard said: “Some incidents were so severe that I was afraid he was going to kill me, either intentionally or just by losing control and going too far.
“He explicitly threatened to kill me many times, especially later in our relationship.”
Heard claimed Depp told her he would kill her if she ever tried to leave him.
She added: “[H]e talked about our relationship being ‘dead or alive’ and telling me that death was the only way out of the relationship; the way he would describe what he wanted to do to me if I left him or hurt him.
“(For example, carving my face up so no one else would want me); and in his language towards others who he didn’t like or was threatened by (detailing how he wanted to have someone tortured or how cheap and easy it would be to have someone knocked off). “
Lawyers for NGN are defending their case based on Heard’s 14 allegations of abuse, which include claims of bust-ups between 2013 and 2016.
