Amber Heard has claimed Johnny Depp threatened to kill her many times in court today.

Heard took to the witness stand as the third week of Depp’s trial against NGN began at London’s High Court today.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 57, is suing the publisher for an article that appeared in The Sun in 2018 which branded him a “wife beater” – a claim he strenuously denies.

Lawyers for NGN are defending their case based on Heard’s 14 allegations of abuse, which include claims of bust-ups between 2013 and 2016.

Depp denies being abusive during the relationship and has claimed Heard was the violent one, which she denies.

In her witness statement Heard, 34, said Depp told her “death was the only way out” of their marriage and he threatened her life on several occasions.

Heard said: “Some incidents were so severe that I was afraid he was going to kill me, either intentionally or just by losing control and going too far.

“He explicitly threatened to kill me many times, especially later in our relationship.”

Heard claimed Depp told her he would kill her if she ever tried to leave him.

She added: “[H]e talked about our relationship being ‘dead or alive’ and telling me that death was the only way out of the relationship; the way he would describe what he wanted to do to me if I left him or hurt him.

“(For example, carving my face up so no one else would want me); and in his language towards others who he didn’t like or was threatened by (detailing how he wanted to have someone tortured or how cheap and easy it would be to have someone knocked off). “

During her testimony this week Heard will answer questions on her allegations of abuse made against her ex-husband.

Heard’s accused Depp of hitting her for the first time in 2013, before another alleged attack in March that year over an argument about a painting by her ex Tasya Van Ree, which he has denied.

Depp has also denied Heard’s allegations that in May 2014 he attacked her on a private plane, reportedly hurling a chair at her and slapping her.

She claims he attacked her during his detox on his private island in the Bahamas and then again that December, which he also denies.

He also denies her claims that the following March he allegedly launched a “three day hostage rage” against Heard that included pushing her into a ping pong table, choking her against the fridge and throttling her.

That same month she claimed he pushed her sister Whitney before pulling out her hair and smashing up a penthouse, which he again denies.

Heard also claimed Depp pushed her against a wall by the throat causing her to fear for her life” in an incident which unfolded on their honeymoon in August 2015, which he denies.

Depp admitted he accidentally headbutted Heard at their Los Angeles penthouse that December.

He allegedly also hurled a decanter at her, dragged her by the hair, “pulling out large chunks”, as he threatened to kill her, which he has denied.

Depp has denied her claims that the following April he assaulted Heard after accusing her of leaving a poo in their bed, before he flew into a drug-fuelled rage and threw a champagne bottle at her.

Then in May that year allegedly threw a phone at Heard while “drunk” and smashed up their apartment, which he denies.
