Strictly stars Katya Jones and Nicola Adams cuddle as they reunite after Covid scare

Strictly Come Dancing stars Nicola Adams and Katya Jones were seen hugging as they reunited for the first time in two weeks after they had to self-isolate because Katya tested positive for coronavirus

Strictly Come Dancing stars Nicola Adams and Katya Jones have reunited after they were axed from the show.

The dancing partners were forced to pull out of the competiton after Katya, 31, tested positive for coronavirus and both of them had to self-isolate for a fortnight.

But it seemed Katya and Nicola, 38, were just excited to be in each other’s company once again and put the upset behind them when they met up this week.

They had huge grins on their faces as they pulled each other in for a big cuddle while meeting up in a street near where Katya lives.

Katya was dressed for the cold in a large brown jacket, which she wore with a purple skirt and a pair of thick black tights.

She added a pop of colour with leopard print trainers and accessorised with a black beret.

The professional dancer, who joined Strictly in 2016, brought her adorable pet dog along to the meeting.

Nicola was also wrapped up warm in a green padded jacket and a grey tracksuit, which she teamed with a pair of Timberland boots.

The duo stood and chatted for a while and hugged as they caught up after weeks apart.

Katya and Nicola had made history as the first same sex couple to compete together on Strictly.

Nicola, who is openly gay, had said she wouldn’t go on Strictly if she wasn’t able to dance with a woman.

But sadly, their history-making stint on the show was short-lived when Katya tested positive for coronavirus.

Though Nicola tested negative, she too had to self-isolate and step back from the show as she had been in close contact with Katya.

Strictly bosses decided that as the pair had to miss two weeks of the show it would be unfair for them to carry on in the competition.

Katya has since revealed she is feeling well with little symptoms.

She was said to have no idea where she caught the virus as she lived alone but was in a social bubble with Nicola so they could dance together.

Nicola had left her home in Leeds with girlfriend Ella Baig to live in London for the duration of the series.

Writing on Instagram about the axing, Katya told Nicola: “My heart is broken I’m utterly gutted this special journey had to end this way and you don’t get to give more.

“@nicolaadams You are a woman who didn’t need a hero, you became one. Definitely my hero.

“To everyone, thank you for your tremendous support and we will keep dancing for you guys one way or another. #teamoutsidethebox @bbcstrictly.”

She ended the post: “Meanwhile, please stay safe everybody. And to all my friends who’re still in the show – go for it!”
